United Nations Global Goals and Challenges

Many social workers have an interest in global social work, but have a difficult time bridging what they have learned in their MSW program to work in the international field. One of the most crucial steps to making the leap from US based macro work to practice on a global stage is being able to adequately translate the Social Work Grand Challenges into the United Nations Global Goals.

Once we are fluent in both the language of our own silo of practice and that used by nations, we will better be able to carve out our place in meeting the Sustainable Development Goals, also known as the UN Global Goals in partnership with those who often don’t realize social workers are trained for these challenges on the micro, mezzo and macro level.
