Kate Hendricks Thomas
Kate Hendricks Thomas is a professor, researcher, and proven thought leader in the field of mental health promotion for military personnel. Her interest in veterans’ health is informed by personal experience – She is a former Marine Corps Military Police Officer with experience leading teams in law enforcement, training, and combat commands. She spent 2005 with the 2nd Military Police Battalion in Fallujah, Iraq and commanded a company aboard Parris Island, where the Marine Corps makes Marines.
Dr. Thomas talks about enhancing performance from both experiential and scientific perspectives. She holds a Ph.D. in Public Health Promotion with graduate degrees in Management and Women’s Studies. A Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES), her own research focuses on program evaluation and neurological enhancements possible through somatic practice. She is the author of two books on these subjects – Brave Strong True: The Modern Warrior’s Battle for Balance and Bulletproofing the Psyche: Preventing Mental Health Problems in Our Military and Veterans.
Today, Kate directs the Service Leadership Corps for the Mission Continues. She is also a speaker and consultant who travels the country teaching resilience-building and mental fitness.
